Balanced view – often the boys we talk with, state that they are embarrassed and feel shame for just being a boy. There is nothing to be gained by this narrative for either young men or women. We must be careful when we brandish “toxic masculinity” as the go to norm, as boys hear this as them not being good enough or too much, resulting in them feeling great shame. We provide them with a safe space to dialogue this and offer them a more balanced and positive way to see themselves and others.
We’re busy fighting to create a message of "You can be whatever you want" for our daughters, but we aren’t pushing for the same as vocally for our sons.
